DataSHIELD Community Constitution Meeting Updates

Hello,

At today’s session, we made several important decisions related to the development of a governance structure:

  1. We will continue to work over the summer, with regular meetings on Tuesday mornings at 11:00 CEST (10:00 BST) as we have been having already.

  2. The aim is to create a single “constitution” document - the work-in-progress can be found in the constitution outline that was already posted (above).

  3. We started to discuss decision-making processes within the community today; next week will be a continuation of this, with people encourage to read and edit the decision-making and dispute resolution document beforehand.

  4. In future sessions, we plan to finish working on the constitution and will move onto the remaining documents (particularly, the Social Contract and the Code of Conduct). It may still be necessary to re-visit the constitution after this for some minor revisions, but we would not expect bigger changes at this time.

As a reminder, we plan to finish these governance documents over the summer to allow a time for reading and reflection by community members prior to (we hope!) validation at the DataSHIELD conference in Barcelona in October.

In the meantime, we also remind you that all are invited to participate in the Tuesday morning governance workshops. If you are unable to make it, we would still value your contributions! Please post here on the forum or you can contact one of the regular attenders (some of us are listed below) to relay your thoughts.

Regular attenders include (but are not limited to): @asm, @alexwesterberg, @florian.schwarz, @Angela, @gfcg @swheater
