# Opal 3.0 released

Hi,

I am pleased to announce the release of Opal 3.0. This version introduces a new way of accessing the data: the resources (see also [DataSHIELD Resources](https://datashield.discourse.group/t/datashield-resources/152) discussion). This is a major improvement as it makes big data, complex domain specific data structures and high performance computing systems available to federated analysis through Opal.
